In case you’re not one of the lucky four, you can get a jar of this deep conditioning, tangle reducing, split end repairing, shine enhancing conditioner for yourself at a deeply reduced price for the rest of the month.
“To practice Right Livelihood (samyag ajiva), you have to find a way to earn your living without transgressing your ideals of love and compassion. The way you support yourself can be an expression of your deepest self, or it can be a source of suffering for you and others… We should be awake to the consequences, far and near, of the way we earn our living.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh, The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching
When I think of the ‘Beauty Industry’, I think of Photoshopped models wearing way too much makeup promising the impossible if we just keep buying the latest and greatest ‘miracle’ product.
(the only way to actually achieve ‘anti-aging’ is to be six feet underground, am I right?)
Luckily, the Beauty Industry has a flip side: People who are creating products that not only help you look good but are made with ingredients and processes that are helping someone else.
Arjuni is one of these companies. Based in Cambodia, Arjuni is a manufacturer of virgin human hair extensions who distributes in the U.S..
Arjuni began when Cambodia’s textile industry collapsed because of cheap competition from China. Founder Janice Wilson saw a way to create employment for women with sewing skills who had lost their jobs.
It also became a way to help women who previously worked in Cambodia’s notorious sex trade learn marketable skills. In addition, Arjuni offers free English, computer and math classes to its employees.
I first learned of Arjuni when I was asked to participate in their customer appreciation program. Each week, they give away a hair care product to one of their Facebook fans, and for the month of August, the giveaway is my Coconut Hair Conditioner.
Arjuni is a great model of how I think business should be done, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with them!
Virgin coconut oil is one of my favorite oils. Besides the beautiful natural aroma, it’s an easy and effective hair conditioner adding shine as well as repairing dry and damaged hair.
This is coconut oil infused with lavender flower, holy basil leaf, and rosemary leaf; herbs that condition, reduce tangles, strengthen hair, and stimulate growth.
Don’t you just love that green?
With jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, and lavender, holy basil and rosemary essential oils added, this is what I’ve been using to deep condition the “supercrunch” I’ve got goin’ on (my hair is so dry right now it actually sounds crunchy!).
